CUP Information

Welcome to the Molina Family!

We are excited to offer health care services to Clark County residents who have Apple Health Medicaid coverage. We have enjoyed being part of the neighborhood for the last 10 years and look forward to our future together. Here you will find information about your transition from CUP to Molina.

Background:
As of January 1, 2016, CUP members are now covered by Molina Healthcare of Washington.

Why is this change occurring?
The CUP Board made a decision that the best way to continue to meet the needs of their Medicaid members was to expand on the resources of another reputable and experienced Medicaid health plan. CUP invited several organizations to submit their vision for how they could best carry on CUP’s legacy and mission for its members, and chose Molina.

How does the change affect me and my family?
This will not change anything for you and your family at this time. You will still receive your same Apple Health Medicaid benefits. Medicaid benefits are established by the Health Care Authority (HCA) and are identical for all Washington Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). Until the change is in effect, you can continue using your CUP member ID card. On January 1, 2016, you should begin to use your Molina member ID card.

Will my provider participate with Molina?
Providers who do not have a Molina contract today have been notified that their CUP contract can seamlessly transfer over to Molina. The majority of CUP's providers already have a relationship with Molina. Molina and CUP are working together to encourage the providers who do not currently have a contract with Molina to accept this transfer so that they can be credentialed and entered into Molina’s systems and provider directories in advance of the planned January 1, 2016 membership transfer.

I do not see my current CUP provider listed on Molina’s Provider Directory today. How can I be sure they will be available with Molina?
Molina is actively working with CUP and local providers to update the Molina provider network and directory as quickly as possible.

Since there is a lag between the time a provider agrees to join Molina’s network and the time the provider is visible on the Molina online Provider Directory, members who have specific questions regarding the transfer status of a particular provider, should call Molina at:

Molina Member and Provider Contact Center - (800) 869-7165 (TTY 711).

What happens if my provider chooses not to participate with Molina? If your PCP or medical group does not join Molina’s network, you will be notified. Our member services team will help you find a new PCP. Keep in mind that you may change your PCP for any reason, at any time.

I have a Prior Authorization (PA) for services from CUP, what will happen to it after the change takes place?
Any open authorizations for services that have been approved by CUP will be transitioned over and honored by Molina.

How will Molina handle differences between the CUP and Molina formularies (prescription drug lists)?
Molina will honor non-Molina formulary prescriptions for ninety (90) days. Our pharmacy team will reach out to prescribing providers to determine if the prescription can be transitioned to a Molina formulary drug or approved on a non-formulary basis going forward. Molina will notify members if a change needs to occur.

I don’t know much about Molina and I really don’t want to change. Can I remain with CUP?
CUP will no longer provide Apple Health Medicaid benefits after December 31, 2015. If you currently receive Apple Health Medicaid benefits through CUP, your membership will be moved to Molina as of January 1, 2016.
