The MolinaCares Accord Presents $40K Grant to Rosalind Franklin University’s Interprofessional Community Clinic

CHICAGO, May 29, 2023 - The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Illinois, presented a $40,000 grant to Rosalind Franklin University (RFU) in support of their student-led Interprofessional Community Clinic (ICC), which provides health care to uninsured residents in Lake County, Illinois. The grant will go toward crucial vaccinations, vitals kits to supplement telehealth services, and medical supplies enabling the clinic to offer pelvic health and dermatology services for ICC patients. The contribution is part of the MolinaCares Illinois Health Equity Initiative – an investment of nearly $5 million to improve equity and health outcomes in under-resourced communities.In Lake County, 7.2% of the community is uninsured, making accessing affordable and quality care especially difficult. Additionally, one in 10 residents are unable to see a doctor or get a prescription filled due to cost. The ICC exclusively serves patients who do not have insurance coverage – a demographic facing disproportionately high instances of chronic diseases.

Funding will support vaccines for influenza, Tdap, pneumococcal, and shingles. Additionally, grant money will be allocated to improving access to specialty care including pelvic health and dermatology services as well as vital supply kits sent to patients to expand telemedicine offerings. Through this investment of critically important resources, MolinaCares and RFU aim to address health equity and increase access to care in Lake County.
