Molina Healthcare of Florida Addresses Hunger During the Holidays with Reach St. Pete

12/18/2023

St. Petersburg, Fla.– The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Florida (“Molina”), and its community partner, Reach St. Pete, hosted multiple mobile holiday pop-up pantries at multiple locations in St. Petersburg and Clearwater.

Community members shopped at the free mobile grocery store for frozen meats, fresh produce, milk, eggs, dry goods, and hygiene items as they prepare for the holiday. Locations included the Enoch Davis Center, Campbell Park Recreation Center, and Northside Baptist Church in St. Petersburg and Pinellas Hope in Clearwater.

In November, Molina volunteers visited the same locations distributing food for the Thanksgiving holiday.

In Florida, over two million people are facing hunger, with over 600,000 of them being children. Molina works closely with organizations across the state like Reach St. Pete to help fight food insecurity, a significant social determinant of health.

Earlier this year, MolinaCares launched its MolinaCares for a Healthy Florida initiative, with an initial commitment of over $700,000 to improve Floridians’ overall health and well-being. Reach St. Pete is one of the recipients of a grant supporting its Pop-Up Pantry.
