Molina Healthcare of California, CSA and Hensel Phelps Partner to Distribute Thanksgiving Meal Kits to Riverside Families Struggling with High Food Prices

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Nov. 20, 2023 – Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”), Community Settlement Association (CSA) and Hensel Phelps hosted a drive-thru Thanksgiving meal kit giveaway for 300 families who may have otherwise gone without a holiday meal.
Thanksgiving dinner prices this year are the second highest on record according to a recent American Farm Bureau survey. Prices dropped from last year’s record numbers but are still 30% higher than those before the pandemic.
“Food insecurity is a growing problem and Molina is committed to increasing access to healthy options for California families,” said Abbie Totten, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California. “We’re proud to partner with valued organizations like CSA and Hensel Phelps to provide Thanksgiving meals to our neighbors in Riverside and the surrounding community.”
Kits included a frozen turkey, stuffing mix, canned cranberry sauce, canned green beans, canned corn, canned gravy, boxed mashed potatoes, fresh fruit, vegetables, pumpkin pie and more.
“This event continues to grow each year and we are proud to partner with Molina and Hensel Phelps to ease the burden on families struggling to serve a holiday meal,” said Ninfa Delgado, vice president of operations/chief operating officer at Riverside Community Health Foundation.
“This event is truly special for the employees of Hensel Phelps,” said Michelle Keyser, manager of supplier diversity in the construction group of Hensel Phelps. “Participating in a cultural staple like a Thanksgiving meal fosters family togetherness and we are proud to make that possible.”
