The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation Donates $10,000 to Branches in Support of Financial Wellness in Miami-Dade County

Molina Healthcare of Florida, in conjunction with the Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation, presented a $10,000 check to Branches, a Miami-Dade nonprofit that provides free financial coaching for individuals and families.

A survey found that only 28% of Floridians have a high level of financial literacy. Additionally, another study found Miami has the second-highest amount of credit card debt of all Florida municipalities with over $2.1 billion.

This donation helps fund Branches’ Achieve Programs, which offer financial wellness services focused on creating economic opportunities for families. Achieve Programs include one-on-one personal coaching, financial education, entrepreneurship support, and tax preparation services. The program also connects families to other social needs services including transportation and food.

“We are proud to support Branches, a leading community-based organization that is advancing financial literacy and helping hardworking families across the state achieve long-term stability and success,” said Mike Jones, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Florida. “We are committed to providing our neighbors with the tools they need to live happy, healthy, and prosperous lives.”

The donation is part of Molina’s recently announced MolinaCares for a Healthy Florida initiative that has committed more than $700,000 to improve Floridians’ overall health and well-being.

“We are grateful to have a long-standing partnership with Molina, which recognizes the need for programming like ours and the lives we’ve been able to change as a result of our services,” said Brent McLaughlin, president and CEO of Branches. “This donation ensures we can continue to support the economic well-being of Florida’s families.”
