ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Dec. 1, 2023) – Molina Healthcare of Michigan (“Molina”) recognized University of Michigan Health, Michigan Medicine Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools (“RAHS”) and its 19 school-based clinics, supporting students in elementary through high school, for their commitment to physical and behavioral health and health education.

“Caring for our children and helping them make healthy decisions is one of the best things we can do for our community,” said Terrisca Des Jardins, plan president for Molina Healthcare of Michigan. “We applaud the University of Michigan Health, Michigan Medicine Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools and those individuals doing the work inside the schools which prioritizes the health and well-being of students and their families.”

As part of the recognition, clinics in Washtenaw, Genesee, and Jackson Counties will receive iPads for clinic patients. The devices will be available in waiting areas as a means to relieve anxiety about upcoming care. The iPads can be used for listening soothing music, playing games, or creating art.

RAHS clinic services include immunizations, sports and annual physicals, asthma care, and behavioral health therapy. Molina has supported clinics with hygiene items, as well as health and dental educational resources.

"This recognition from Molina Healthcare is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools and its dedicated team to youth in our communities," said Mohamad Khraizat, director of the Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools. "This underscores the transformative impact of school-based health centers in our schools, providing essential care and support to youth 21 years old and younger. We are thankful for Molina Healthcare of Michigan acknowledging the vital role that school-based health centers play in nurturing the well-being of our youth, and we remain steadfast in our mission to cultivate a culture of health and wellness within the educational landscape."
